Realtor Magazine Online has some interesting charts about the potential pay-off for home remodel projects.  Surprisingly, real estate remodel pay-off values differ from region to region.  If you follow this link to the main article page, be sure to also check out the links down the right side of the article.  Those links will go into more details about specific remodel jobs and their resale value pay-off from region to region.    For example a minor kitchen remodel will return you 112% (of investment) in the West and only 85% of investment in the Midwest region.  These are averages, of course, and vary with each property and circumstance.    In general, kitchen and bathroom renovations lead the way for best return on your investment.  I find this to be true with my own experience with Wenatchee real estate.
