Wenatchee Target Shopping
I was in Target today shopping for a bunch of little stuff, which added up to about $70. When I was checking out, the cashier asked me if I'd like to save 10% today. I said "Of course, but not if it has anything to do with MORE credit". She was a little taken aback, but eventually assured me I could cancel the account if I didn't want more credit. That tactic didn't work either. Afterwards, I got to thinking this is how people get into trouble and why some of them cannot get financing for a home. Everyone wants you to have their credit card!
Unfortunately, this works with a lot of people, and is one reason FICO credit scores go down. I'm not saying you shouldn't have credit cards because they are very handy. I have a few myself. BUT, the point is getting more just because you can is not a good thing.
I've actually heard of people going out to buy a car while they have a house sale pending... and it kills the deal because their debt to income ratio is now too high. If you are going to buy a new car or apply for more credit, do it AFTER your house deal is closed... or when you are sure you're not going to want to refinance for a significant amount of time.
Just a passing thought....
