I was in the Seattle area yesterday to be with a friend whose husband was having major surgery.  We didn't get out of the hospital until after 11:00 last night... but he came through the surgery well, and we are  prayerful his recovery will continue to go smoothly!  The next few days are a critical time.

On my way home today, I couldn't resist stopping at Smallwood's fruit stand near Peshastin, about 20 miles west of  Wenatchee, to take a few pictures.  Besides a wide variety of fresh fruits and veggies in season, they have added a greenhouse with a bunch of beautiful hanging baskets.   They're absolutely gorgeous.

To the right is a picture of a tree of petunias at the same fruitstand.   It is actuallyMVC-004S.JPG a bunch of small pots of petunias, stacked in a huge pyramid to form the shape of a tree.  It was very dramatic.   Besides the fruit and vegetable stand, and now the greenhouse, there is a little animal farm,  that is set up for kids to pet the  animals.    There is also a large
grassy area where picnic tables are set up and  lots of  parking.
It's a pretty  fun place for the entire family.

We have dozens of fruit stands pop up along our roadsides this time of year,.  I absolutely  love it!   If you're going to be in the area, here is a pretty good list of many of the area fruit stands.  Some of these stands are fairly small, but several are fairly good size and fun to just go in and browse through the variety of fruity products.  Three of my favorite stands are: Smallwood's, Prey's, and B&B.

Besides the fruit stands, we also have a farmer's market held every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at Riverfront Park, at the bottom of Fifth St. in Wenatchee.

And... beyond the fruit stands and Farmer's markets, we have numerous new wineries coming into the area, as well.   There are 27 wineries in North Central Washington.  If you're interested in wine tasting and tours in the area, check out this link.
