A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing

Here is a note I received from Wayne Gerald, a professional home inspector and appraiser, regarding an upcoming election issue:

"As the election nears we seem to here more and more propaganda. I think the sleeper with little attention is I-937. I only see one add and it is for cleaner air and water and states it will save the AVERAGE HOMEOWNER $ 4.00 per month.
I have read as much as possible including the complete bill documentation. I-937 would REQUIRE utilities to purchase 15% of power from solar or wind power. The conservation or energy credits would only apply to the power generating plants not any residential conservation.
It is doubtful that we in Washington can purchase 15% of power from these sources within our own state. Solar and Wind Power are about 10-12 cents per kilowatt.
Maybe in liberal land (Western Washington ) that is not a huge cost but lets look at Wenatchee. Residential power is 2.5 cents per kilowatt and now 15% of the source would be required to come from the higher cost solar and wind power.

I like solar and wind power; as well as, conservation but this type of restriction is not good in my opinion for competition, the public, and especially people in Wenatchee.
I can just see the PUD's in Wenatchee selling power for 2 cents wholesale and buying mandated power for 10 cents per kilowatt.
Wayne"
