Wenatchee's Famous Skookum Indian

Here is a picture of the world famous Skookum Indian.   Skookum, with his roving eyes,  now sits atop the Office Depot building at the corner of Ninth & Wenatchee Avenue.

This is where the original Skookum Packers Association apple packing plant was located when I moved to Wenatchee  in 1971.

The Skookum Indianhead mascot/logo  adorned all the Skookum appple (and other fruit) boxes shipped across the country and around the world.

Skookum, like many other apple packing facilities, has since merged with other warehouses and has essentially lost it's identify.  A sad end to an interesting and colorful history.
