This is a picture of the Pangborn Memorial located at an overlook on Grand Avenue in Fancher Heights.  The memorial is to commemorate the first ever non-stop flight across the Pacific Ocean (from Japan to the United States) by Clyde Pangborn and Hugh Herndon in 1931.  The landing was in the Wenatchee Valley.  Our local airport is named Pangborn Airport in honor of this historic flight.    Here is a link to more information about Clyde Pangborn.
