Youth Parade Kicks Off First Week-End Of Apple Blossom

Yesterday (Thursday) was, officially, the first day of the 2007 Washington State Apple Blossom Festival in Wenatchee.  The first sign that Apple Blossom is here is the setting up of the Food Fair at Memorial Park, below the courthouse.   The Food Fair will be open everyday during the Festival, and there will be entertainment all day both week-ends and during the lunch and dinner hours during the week days.

The first major event of the festival takes place tomorrow with the annual Youth Parade (with 87 official entries).  This will be the kid's day.  Next Saturday is the big Grand Parade, with floats and bands and other entries coming from all over the region.

For the first time since 1981, the apple blossoms have actually come into full bloom at the same time as the celebration in their honor.

Watch the Wenatchee World newspaper for coverage of the parade and other events throughout Festival period.  And, go visit the official Apple Blossom website for more information on events coming during the next 10 days.

Here is a link to an article outlining some of the events coming up over the week-end.
