Attn: Septic System Owners
Effective July 1, 2007, new Washington State reqirements have been implemented for Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of all septic systems. Read the memo put out August 10th by Marc Marquis, Environmental Health Director at the Chelan-Douglas Health District.
Under the new regulations, pressurized systems will need to be inspected every year. Gravity flow systems will need to be inspected every 3 years.
As I see it, the two great challenges are:
1) Getting the word out to septic system owners so they can comply with these new regulations.
2) Training & certifying enough O & M inspectors to meet the need.
