Click image to enlarge.I love the four seasons in the Wenatchee Valley but Fall is my absolute favorite.  Every year about this time my husband and I make a special trip from Wenatchee up the Tumwater Canyon, which runs west from Leavenworth toward Everett.  


Going through the Tumwater Canyon in early October is like driving through some sort of a painting by an artist who couldn't put his paints away.  We always make several stops along the way to take photos and enjoy the scenery.  Yesterday was the day.  It was a classic Fall day, but the sun only showed through now and then so the colors weren't as intense as they might have been.  Still, it was fabulous.

See, I get so enthralled with talking about the beautiful array of colors, I almost forgot about the purpose of this post... to feature a business I've always enjoyed as we drive by on my way through the canyon.

At Natural Wonders, there are all kinds of wooden carved critters scattered throughout the grounds, old equipment (some still in use), and stacks of firewood in preparation for the upcoming winter.

Custom Auto Repair behind               Tom, Dick & Harry'sWhen I come across a business I am particularly impressed with , some good publicity is in order.  Today I had the pleasure of meeting Joe Taft, the owner of Custom Auto Repair.  Frankly, I didn't even know this business existed but we were in need of some servicing to the air conditioning unit in our van and Joe was recommended... and I'm glad he was. 

Joe is a really nice guy,  honest, his rates are very reasonable AND he has the cleanest mechanics shop I have ever seen!    His tool chest was organized and lined up as well as any operating room surgical tray.  

The shop is located behind the Tom, Dick & Harry's restaurant at the Monitor turnoff.  There is a big Yellow sign that you can't miss.   Next time you're in need of some repairs on your vehicle, check Joe out... and tell him Carol Williams, the realtor recommended him!  If you click on the image to enlarge you will see Joe's phone number:  509-741-0911.  Also, you can see his really cool motorcycle.

Please check out the local North Central Washington  Sudden Values website.  They are setting up a nationwide network of merchants offering a huge variety of discounts through online coupons.   I've put a couple of offers up for prospective buyers and/or sellers.    If you go to their national website, you will be able to "select a location" and see what merchants are offering across the country.  I'll definitely check that website next time I go traveling.

Dizzy D's At Fifth & WesternHere is a photo, taken last week, of Dizzy D's restaurant located at the corner of Fifth & Western in Wenatchee.  Yes it was taken last week, despite the old cars in front making it look like an older photo.  The new truck on the right is the give-away.   Good weather always brings out the old cars.  I like patronizing these small, family owned businesses.  Dizzy D's makes really good hamburgers, and their food in general is always good.   Try the chile with a dollup of sour cream and cheese on top!

Inside Lemolo's Cafe On Wenatchee Ave.Here is the inside of the Lemolo's cafe where I met a client for coffee yesterday.  This is a popular spot at lunch time and a pleasant (and colorful) place to meet for coffee and a dessert of some kind.   They serve a wonderful array of sandwich and pizza choices.  It is located across Wenatchee Avenue from the Performing Arts Center.

Here I am endorsing another business.   I discovered a new BBQ restaurant in Cashmere that is out of this world.  I do like BBQ, but don't generally go  GaGa over it.   

Country Boys Southern Style  BBQ ( at 400 Aplets Way ) in Cashmere had me eating like a starving orphan and swearing not to wash my hands after dinner, so I could lick my fingers for the rest of the day!    My husand and I shared a BBQ Chicken Thigh Dinner (3 thighs, and two side dishes). We selected a side of baked beans and cole slaw.   Besides the really good BBQ Chicken, the beans and cole slaw were very good also.   I ordered a large  side of cole slaw and potato salad to go... so when I get hungry I can snack on them.

At Tom, Dick & Harry's one pancake is a full mealIf you haven't been to Tom, Dick & Harry's in Monitor (3 miles west of Wenatchee)  for breakfast on the week-end, you must do it!   Be sure to go hungry or you're going home with a big doggy box.   

During the week, this is a great place to go for a burger, fries, and a coke or milkshake.... but on the week-end they serve breakfast from 7:00 - 11:00 a/m.   Their portions are beyond big.  They are monster sized.  My husband and I ordered 2 pancakes and one breakfast serving of  eggs, hashbrowns and toast.  The pancakes were each the size of a full dinner plate and the eggs and hashbrowns were just as generous.    We did bring a doggie box home.    The service isn't particularly fast, but it's a pleasant place and the food is definitely worth the wait!      You'll go away feeling like you won't want to eat for a week, but by dinner time you'll have your nose in the refrigerator looking for those leftovers, which will no doubt be another full meal.    

Click on image to enlargeThere's a new mortgage brokerage office in town.  This, in itself, is not news because we've certainly seen a proliferation of mortgage brokers pop up over the last few years.   It's actually kind of scary. 

When asked, I gladly make recommendations of professionals with whom I have utmost confidence in providing excellent service.  Up to now, I have not gotten into publicly endorsing businesses on my blog, but today I will make an exception.    

Perry Mace, who has worked Wenatchee real estate loans for many years, has recently opened his own office, Perry Mace & Associates,  with 3  co-workers from his previous location.    I have had the pleasure of working  with Perry several times in the past with various clients.  He is definitely one of my favorites.  Regardless of the dollar value  of the loan, or the credit worthiness of the applicant, Perry is always extremely personable, patient and professional.   

I like supporting Perry's business in general, but I especially like working with Perry when I have potential home buyers with credit issues.  Perry is very knowledgeable about how to help these people and always honest about what they need to do to get in a position to buy and get the best loan available.    Perry will work with a client for months and months if necessary.  He is not in the business just for the quick sale.  He is truly a "build a relationship" kind of guy.
